The choir is led by its music director, Lynne Rogers.
Lynne has a busy career as a freelance soprano, singing teacher and choral director. She is a gifted concert and oratorio performer and for 16 years was a regular member of the BBC Daily Service Singers broadcasting on Radio 4. She has performed in France, Germany, Holland, Italy and throughout the UK and her repertoire extends from baroque to contemporary music.
Lynne originally studied Theology before travelling to Italy to study singing under Maestro Arrigo Pola, who famously taught Pavarotti. She continued her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire before returning home to Liverpool. Lynne currently teaches singing at undergraduate and graduate level at Liverpool Hope University in addition to having a thriving private practice.
She has particular interests in vocal health and lifelong singing and believes that nobody is ever too old to improve their singing voice. She has directed a number of ensembles amongst which are show choirs, opera choruses and youth choirs. Currently Lynne conducts Southport U3A choir and is very proud to be directing Level 10 choir , a choir which came together during lockdown and has stayed together.
Our mission is to challenge long held preconceptions around performing and listening, by choosing unusual buildings in which to perform and inviting our audiences to experience sound in interesting and unfamiliar ways. Lynne thoroughly enjoys devising interesting programmes full of sometimes challenging, but always beautiful music and working with a group of singers able to rise to the challenge.
